Teen years can be tough for both teens and their families

Adolescence is a time of intense growth, often marked by confusion and emotional intensity. If your teen is looking for support in managing big emotions, developing a strong sense of self, improving peer and family relationships, and making healthy decisions, we could be a great fit.

I offer 45 and 60 minute sessions for teens. The goal of these sessions is to equip each teen with tools to deepen their self-awareness, refine their relationships management skills, and ultimately, increase their confidence in their ability to navigate life’s challenges.

If your teen is not ready for therapy themselves, but you know your family needs some help getting back on track, I also offer DBT Parent Skills Sessions based on the DBT for Adolescents and DBT for Children models. In these sessions, we help you game plan how to set limits and consequences with your teen in ways that foster healthy development while also strengthening your relationship with them.

  • Adolescence can bring intense emotions, rapid changes, and challenging relationships. DBT for teens teaches skills for managing big feelings, coping with stress, and communicating more effectively with friends and family. This structured approach provides tools to help teens feel more grounded and confident in navigating the ups and downs of growing up.

  • Parenting a teen can be deeply rewarding but also incredibly challenging, especially when emotions run high. DBT skills sessions for parents and families offer practical tools for staying steady, setting boundaries, and improving communication. These skills can strengthen family relationships and reduce conflict, whether or not your teen is currently in therapy.

  • Teens are still developing their sense of identity and how they relate to others. Exploring attachment patterns and past experiences can help them better understand their emotions and relationships in the present. This insight supports healthier self-esteem, stronger coping strategies, and more secure connections with both peers and family members.

  • Mindfulness helps teens slow down, notice their thoughts and feelings, and respond instead of react. Practicing mindfulness in therapy can reduce stress, ease anxiety, and improve focus. It also gives teens a set of calming strategies they can use at school, with friends, or during difficult moments at home.
