MEET SOFIA GOMEZ, LMFT
I work with people who are navigating difficult life transitions, struggling in relationships, or feeling burnt out by the demands of balancing work and life. Together, we will help you clarify your goals, identify your strengths, and deepen the self-awareness and practical skills needed to support sustainable growth.
I work especially well with high-achieving adults and teens looking for support to regulate difficult emotions, build healthier relationships, manage symptoms of Borderline Personality Disorder, and heal from relational trauma.
Everyone’s needs in therapy are unique. Guided by excellent training and a deep belief that everyone is innately capable of growth and change, I tailor each session to meet your specific needs. I will always meet you with warmth, curiosity, acceptance, and a willingness to gently challenge you as we help you build the life you want to be living.
Blending compassionate support with practical, evidence-based tools
MY CLINICAL APPROACH
My approach blends practical, evidence-based strategies with deep inner work. As a trauma-informed therapist, I draw primarily from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and also integrate psychodynamic, mindfulness, attachment-focused, and IFS-informed principles, tailoring my approach to best meet each client’s needs.
This combination supports the development of tactical tools for managing crisis moments, regulating overwhelming emotions, and improving relationships, while deepening the self-awareness needed to support lasting change.
MY BACKGROUND
I have a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Harvard University and a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Southern California. Before becoming a therapist, I was a consultant at Deloitte Consulting, primarily working in the healthcare M&A space. My childhood years were spent moving internationally, and I’ve lived throughout the US, most recently moving to Los Angeles after my years as a consultant in New York City. As an immigrant and career changer, I understand the challenges of navigating different worlds and environments while staying true to yourself.
In sessions, I am warm, collaborative, and direct
MY STYLE
I aim to create a space where you feel heard and understood. I am not afraid to ask hard questions with respect, compassion, and, when it fits, a bit of humor. To be truly seen and listened to is a deeply vulnerable, human experience. I respect the effort it takes to show up in session each week, and my commitment to you is to be fully present with you and bring the best of my training, experience, and intuition to supporting you in reaching your goals.
